Part-Time Ministry Position
St. Mary’s is seeking a part-time priest-in-charge. We are located in the heart of Bridgeville, and our parish motto is, “The Little Church with a Big Heart.” You are greeted with that “big heart,” from the parishioners when you enter through the garden-filled courtyard. We are a small congregation, who can boast that we often have more attendees than memberships of record.
The people of St. Mary’s appreciate traditional forms of worship and worldview, albeit sensitive to ever-changing religious and cultural norms. The congregation draws many of its worshipers from a large 55-and over community just a few miles away. Delaware's favorable tax incentives, along with resort-lifestyle benefits, draw residents to this community. We seek a priest who will lead us in focusing our mission as we seek to minister to others and grow our congregation.
St. Mary’s has drawn on local supply priests since the retirement of our priest several years ago. During this extended transition, we have been blessed by God who has sustained us. Embedded in our Sunday liturgy is a prayer where we ask God to “continue to lead us, strengthen us, and direct us, in our search for new clergy. Raise for us, we pray, clergy who will boldly proclaim your Gospel, faithfully administer your sacraments, and serve your people with love and compassion, that we may continue to grow in the likeness of Christ and be a beacon of love and hope to our community and the world. To the glory of your Holy Name. Amen.”
